Eleanor Rickard

Mrs. Eleanor L. Rickard, 76 of Thurmont, MD., died Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Glenn O. Rickard.
Born October 26, 1934 in Washington, D. C., she was the daughter of John and Louise E. Robertson Griffith.
Mrs. Rickard was a member of the Thurmont United Methodist Church. In earlier years she was a Girl Scout Leader, was active in the PTA, and was president of the Room Mother’s Association of Thurmont Elementary School. She was a legal transcriber for 20+ years. Eleanor enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, traveling to the beach, flowers and gardening.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her children Aleta L. Fox and husband Gary W. of Rocky Ridge, Glenn O. Rickard, III of Thurmont and John W. Rickard and wife Valeria of Haymarket, VA, grandchildren Jennifer Main, Tracy Heims, Jeffrey Fox and Olivia Rickard, great grandchildren Logan, Lucas and Wyatt. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by a brother John Griffith.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont Sunday, January 16, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, January, 17 at 11:00 a.m. From
