Donald E. Palmer, 87, of Boonsboro, died on June 10 at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown. He was the husband of Deborah Palmer. Born on September 3, 1929, he was the son of the late Ray Palmer and Vada (Lemon) Palmer.
Mr. Palmer was a farmer, having farmed on his own property in Boonsboro and with Edwin and Helen Moser. He worked for a time at JB Ferguson wastewater treatment and for a number of years for the Washington County Weed Control. Donald was a member of the American Legion Post #10 in Boonsboro and was a past president for the Blue Ridge Riding Club. He enjoyed horseback riding, hunting and raising deer on his farm.
He is survived by his children: Linda Sottile, Stephen Palmer and Carl Palmer and his wife Brenda; grandchildren: April Sottile, Carl Palmer, Jr. and his wife Destinee, as well as great-grandchildren: Layne Palmer, Landyn Palmer, Bryce Sottile and Kirstie Sottile.
Donald was preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin Sottile, a brother, Jim Palmer and a sister, Virginia Cornell.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 14 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD 21713. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 15 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of one's choice, in Mr. Palmer's name.
