Mrs. Debra “Debbie” Jean Cross, 53 of Ocala, Florida formerly of Frederick passed away on Friday, November 12, 2010. She was the wife of Eric Cross.
Born September 6, 1957 in Frederick she was the daughter of Shirley Yoe, of Boonsboro, the step-daughter to Jenny Ellis and the late Manard Ellis.
Debbie was a loving and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. Her love and joy in life was being a wife, mom and grandma “ma-ma”. She was confident, concise and extremely courageous. She fought her disease of cancer strongly until she took her last peaceful breath. One of the highlights of her life was getting out on the open road with her sister, Carolyn. Traveling and seeing new places was always an adventure for her. Her dream was to go see whales breach and go play in the vast ocean. She was always very creative through decorating, building and anything she would put her mind to.
After experiencing the loss of her oldest daughter, Kristen, in 2008 she lived by the quote: “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” She will always be loved and greatly missed.
In addition to her husband Eric and her mother, Shirley, she is survived by her daughter, Angie Pieper and husband Russell of parker Colorado, a son, Brandon White of Tampa, Florida, her four grandchildren, Drew Thomas, Emma Hernandez, Jett Pieper, Jameson Pieper and her grandson on the way, Jaxon Pieper, her brother, Randy Ellis of Jefferson, MD, three sisters, Marie Baer of PA, Carolyn Bledsoe and husband Mark of NC and Connie Hasty of Boonsboro, MD, a half sister, Brenda Crites of WV. She will also be remembered by her numerous nieces, nephew, her lifelong friends Randy and Paula White and Brad Knight whom was like a son to her.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kristen White-Hernandez and her father, Manard Ellis.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Wednesday, November 17
th
from 7-9PM and on Thursday, November 18
th
from 2-4 and 7-9PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday November 18
th
at 12:00PM at the Maranatha Community Church, 123 Btye Drive, Frederick with Rev. Frank White officiating.
Entombment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
