Charles E. Harmon, Jr., 92, of Mt. Lena, Maryland, passed from this life on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the Williamsport Retirement Center.
Born on July 19, 1921, in Security, Maryland, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Catherine E. (Hill) Harmon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma A. (Vance) Harmon.
Charles was a retired truck driver and had been previously employed with Chemical Leaman Tank Lines.
He was a member of the Hagerstown Teamsters and Motor Carriers Local 992 and the South Mountain Rod and Gun Club. He had formerly been a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge 378, and the Hagerstown Loyal Order of the Moose.
He is survived by his son, Richard L. Harmon and wife Susan of York, Pennsylvania, and his daughter, Sandra J. Harmon of Baltimore, Maryland. He is also survived by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Catherine Faulder, Virginia Hutzell, Betty Gouker, and Ethel Harmon; and one grandson, William Renner.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro. Rev. Mark M. Curran will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at the Boonsboro Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
