Bernice LaRue (Etzler) Davis of Frederick, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 15, 2015.

She was born December 31, 1925 in Libertytown, the eighth child of the late Vernon and Ethel Irene (Warner) Etzler.

She was married on June 21, 1942 to Loy W. Davis who preceded her in death June 11, 2008. She was also preceded in death by infant daughter Deborah Ann Davis on December 1, 1953.

Surviving her are children, Dorinda Shepley of Frederick, Donald Davis (twin) of Brunswick, Darrell Davis (twin) of Walkersville, and Doreen Rose of Thurmont; grandchildren, Camille Jerome, Matthew Shepley and wife Salai, Lee Shepley, Julie Leopold and husband Eddie, Angela Deater and husband Jason, Jessica Davis, Allison Davis, Andrea Dyjak and husband Brad, JoBeth Roberson and husband Josh, Ryan Davis and Raymond Scott Rose; great grandchildren, Levi Jerome, Chelsi Jerome, Brittney and Shelby Leopold, Bailey and Cole Deater, Catherine McLaughlin, Andralynne Nichols, Jaeden and Jordan Roberson, Raymond, Kaleb and Christian Rose and great-great-granddaughter, Tegan Paczek.  She was also awaiting the arrival of another great grandson and great-great granddaughter.  She is also survived by sisters, Octavia Page and Marlene Baker and brother, Raymond Etzler; and also many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Catherine Keeney, Mildred Wolfe, Margaret Baker, Thomas Etzler, Mary Zimmerman, Vernon "Bud" Etzler, Kenneth Etzler, Mabel Knight, Marian Stup, Lorraine Harris, Arthur Grossnickle (nee Etzler) and John Etzler.

After her mother's death, Bernice was raised by her grandmother, Mary Jane (Cushing) Warner.  She attended Adamstown first grade, and then a one-room school in Clagettsville, then to Damascus.  She graduated from Thomas Johnson Evening High School in 1970 with perfect attendance and also attended Frederick Community College for two semesters.

She was  a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.  She loved to play Parcheesi and Bingo with her husband and two sisters.  She went on many bus trips with her husband and met many friends including Truda Webber and Wayne McKenzie, a wonderful tour guide.  She will also be sadly missed by Carl and Linda Reed and is thankful for all their time together. She especially enjoyed all the visits by Rev. Harry C. Cole.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Saturday April 18, 2015 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM, where a funeral service will be held on Monday, April 20, at 1PM.  Rev. Harry C. Cole will officiate.
