Barbara Sweeney

Barbara Jean Emory Sweeney, born on January 31,1967 of Wilmington, Delaware, passed from this life after a brief illness on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at age 50 in Gerrardstown, West Virginia. She was supported by the Hospice of the Panhandle of West Virginia and with family and friends.
She started her education at the John G. Leach School and attended William Penn High School in New Castle, Delaware. Barbara was a caregiver who helped others not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. She was employed briefly outside her home and participated in the medical care of friends and the care of her granddaughters.
She shared many friendships over the years and close friends Nancy Morley,and her family, and Walter Carn were there for her and her family during her illness. She was the happiest when spending time with her son, Justin and granddaughters (Kim and Serena) especially enjoying the video chats almost daily with the girls.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, John Sweeney. She is survived by her mother, Norma Yeager and husband, Joseph; her son, Justin Sweeney; father, William Francis Emory and wife, Donna; brother, Michael Emory and wife Felicia; nephews, Bradley and Andrew Emory; and granddaughters, Kimberly Sweeney and Serena Jenkins.
A celebration of Barbara's life journey will take place at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, PA, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick.  Yarrow First-Hartling will officiate.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of the Panhandle of West Virginia.
